At Jude's Universe, we have been inspired by Jude's love for life and how much joy he brings to us. However, this journey has not been free of issues. We want to share with you both the good and bad times we have had with him. We want to show what products we have used to improve his life. This is a living web site that just started in Aug of 2024. We will be posting puppy health, DIY'ing, along with other things. So sit back and join our adventure.
Everywhere you go, someone offers a different opinion on how to feed your pup. Since Jude is getting older, I have changed his diet drastically over the last couple of years. The Doc said that Jude was "overweight" at 118lbs. He most certainly was. The Doc also said to "cut back on portions and quit giving him treats." I only fed him 3 cups of dry dog food twice a day with a splash of canned dog food. I went down to 2 cups with no weight change. So I started talking to other pet lovers and researching on the web and came up with a diet that works great for him now he has lost 10 lbs, seems more energetic, and now we have a very vocal lab who loves to talk as I fix his meal. Click Here to see what I have been feeding him.
First off, I like cats, but my body does not. I will have to get my beautiful to comment on this section on a later date. She is a big cat lover.
Again, we have a touchy area when it comes to treats. As we learn more about what inside some of these treats, we will post which ones to stay away from. The more natural you get, the better off your pet will be. We have been getting him frozen raw beef bones full of marrow. He will chew on that for hours and gives him a wonderful source of needed vitamins. Click here to order them.
The only thing Jude is getting now, is Cosequin. We tried some of the powders, but did not see any noticable gain.
Toys and more toys. There is an endless amount of toys you can get. We have pretty much given up a chew toys. There is not a single one that did not end up with parts of it in his stomach. He has just as much fun ripping up a cardboard box as he does with an expensive chew toy that lasts only 15 minutes and you have stuffing all over the floor. The only toys that have lasted have been the hard rubber toys that you can stick some peanut butter in. We have some of those as well.
This all depends on how active your pup is. Our dog spends a lot of time outside and is always by my side. He swims frequently and ends up with that unmistakable wet dog smell. Rinsing him off with a hose will get the Ocean, river or lake smell off him. More tips and tricks here.
